Circuit Breaker Maintenance Panel

Description:

The Circuit Breaker panel will be an open discussion between attendees and the experts on the panel.  Circuit breaker maintenance questions ranging from small molded case circuit breakers to large outdoor SF6 circuit breakers are welcome, as well as everything in between.  This year, in addition to two experts with field experience, we have a test equipment manufacturer represented.  Please bring questions or topics you are interested in, and look forward hearing what the experts and other in the audience have to say about their experience.

Description:

Electrical protection and control is essential to protect equipment and human life.  The result of a protection operation or misoperation can be catastrophic and costly.  The engineering, acceptance testing, and maintenance testing are all vital to the life and reliability of the protection and control system.  This panel session, led by a panel of experts, will allow conference attendees to come learn in an open dialogue with industry peers and subject matter experts. The session will focus on the topic of electrical protection and control. Attendees of this session will have the opportunity to discuss protection and control fundamentals, testing techniques, new technology, and protection philosophy. The session will discuss the importance of testing, lessons learned, real solutions, and practical steps.  Attendees are encouraged to submit questions to the NETA office ahead of time so that they can be full addressed during the session.

The cable testing panel will address modern cable testing practices and procedures for medium voltage electrical power cables.  The panel will discuss and review the intended application of each technique along with the advantages and limitations of the technique. Updates and changes to industry recommended practices will also be discussed.

What would you pay to have the opportunity to talk to members of the NFPA 70E or Z462 committees?  You’re in luck!!  At this year’s PowerTest Conference there will be members of both committees on the Safety panel on Tuesday.  The range of topics can be anything related to the standards or safety issues people may have at their worksites.  Rarely are this any members of the committees seated in one place to answer questions and help solve real-world issues.  Take advantage of it and bring your safety concerns, questions and field problems to the Safety Panel discussions.
